GRETNA – A local hospital is being sued by a patient who claims she was injured when she was walking in the parking lot and her foot got stuck in a crack.

Sharon Chisesi filed suit against Tulane University Hospital, The Tulane University of Louisiana, Tulane-Lakeside Hospital, Tulane Medical Center and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 20.

Chisesi alleges that on Aug. 22, 2013 after being treated at Tulane-Lakeside Hospital she was walking to her car and her foot became lodged in a cracked asphalt surface in the parking garage and she fell. The plaintiff asserts that she struck her left knee and right shoulder on the ground and received severe and disabling injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain property under its control, failing to warn of a defective walkway and failing to provide a safe means of entrance and exit.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, permanent disability, loss of earning capacity and loss of earnings.

Chisesi is represented by G. Patrick Hand of Gretna-based The Hand Law Firm APLC.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.

Case no. 741-473.
