GRETNA – A local hospital is suing a health insurance provider for allegedly not paying for a patient’s medical treatment.
Omega Hospital LLC filed suit against Humana Health Benefit Plan of Louisiana Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 21.
Omega Hospital contends that a patient who was purportedly covered by an insurance plan provided by Humana Health Benefit Plan of Louisiana Inc. was treated on four dates in 2013. The plaintiff claims that although the patient was covered by the defendant for the procedures that were done, they had to be verified by the insurer prior to being completed. However, Omega Hospital alleges that Humana Health Benefit Plan of Louisiana Inc. did not provide full information needed prior to the procedure so that it would be covered.
The plaintiff claims it is owed $141,490.88.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
Omega Hospital is represented by Covington-based attorney Paul A. Lea Jr.
The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
