GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish homeowner is suing contractors that installed a flood wall near her home alleging their work has damaged her property.

Nicole Ricks filed suit against Odebrecht and Johnson Bros Joint Venture, Healtheon Inc. and Circle Construction LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 26.

Ricks asserts that her home, located at 3627 W. Grandlake Blvd. in Kenner, was damaged when the defendants entered into a project on behalf of the Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers to install a flood wall along her property line. The plaintiff contends the hazardous and defective construction practices, including using heavy equipment in the area and pouring concrete on her property, that began in August 2012 have continued to damage her home. She claims the damage has caused problems with drainage on her property and delays in repairing her home.

The defendant is accused of causing damage to the plaintiff’s property.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for property damage, embarrassment, mental distress and humiliation.

Ricks is represented by James L. Donovan of Metairie-based Donovan & Lawler APLC.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

Case no. 741-703.
