GRETNA – The surveying relatives of a man who allegedly died due to asbestos exposure are suing.
Audrey Jacob, Reginal Jacob and Hilton Jacob Jr. filed suit against CSR Limited in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 26.
The Jacob family contend that their matriarch, Hilton Jacob Sr., died of lung cancer on Sept,. 2, 2013. The plaintiffs allege that Jacob’s lung cancer was due to his exposure to hazardous levels of raw blue asbestos which he handled as part of his work as a general laborer for Johns Manville from April 17, 1957 to Oct. 23, 1967.
The defendant is accused of supplying asbestos products that led to the plaintiff’s illness and death, failing to warn of potential health hazards from asbestos exposure, and selling and supplying an unreasonably dangerous product.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, physical disability, medical expenses, loss of income and benefits, loss of love and affection, loss of society, loss of consortium and loss of enjoyment of life.
The Jacob family is represented by Neil F. Nazareth of New Orleans-based Martzell & Bickford.
The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
