NEW ORLEANS – Temporary stairs installed by a local contractor allegedly led to severe injuries to suffered by a homeowner who has filed a lawsuit over the matter.
James Freeman, and wife Teresa, filed suit against N.O.D.S. Homebuilders LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 12.
Freeman states that on Nov. 7, 2013, he was using temporary stairs located at 9400 Colapissa Street in New Orleans at precisely 8 a.m. While traversing the stairs they allegedly collapsed causing Freeman to incur serious bodily injuries.
Specifically, Freeman claims he suffered injuries to his shoulder and wrist as a result of the incident.
The defendant is accused of allowing a hazardous condition to exist at the premises, providing faulty stairs and failing to supply another means of safe transport.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for mental agony, pain and suffering, medical expenses, transportation fees, decline in future income and loss of enjoyment of life.
The plaintiff’s wife, Teresa Freeman, is seeking a subsequent amount in damages for loss of consortium, loss of society and loss of marital services of her husband.
The petitioners are represented by Glenn Lieberman of Morris Bart LLC.
The case has been assigned to Div. F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
