CEO of local hospital sues over fall in Chinese restaurant parking lot

GRETNA – The CEO of a local hospital is suing over alleged injuries due to a fall in a Chinese restaurant parking lot.

Federico Martinez Jr. filed suit against China Rose of Louisiana Inc., Rose Lin LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 3.

Martine, the CEO of St. Charles Parish Hospital, contends that on July 6 he had just parked in the parking lot at China Rose located at 3501 N. Arnold in Metairie and was exiting his vehicle when he stepped on a cement border in the parking lot that crumbled beneath him and he fell to the pavement. The plaintiff asserts that he received severe injuries in the incident including a broken arm. Martinez claims he was transported by ambulance to St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling where he underwent surgery and was hospitalized for 11 days.

The defendant is accused of leaving the premises in a state of disrepair and knowing of the defect.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental and emotional overlay, mental pain and anguish, anxiety, nervousness, depression, medical expenses, lost wages and loss of earning capacity.

Martinez is represented by attorney Wanda L. Theriot of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.
