GRETNA – A contractor is suing a Grand Isle business owner whose property he was working on when he was allegedly injured in a fall from a ladder.
Victor Moawad filed suit against CMC Grand Isle Properties LLC, Joey’s Inn on the Isle LLC, Joe Hicks Jr., Joe Hicks Sr. and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 6.
Moawad contends that on June 7 he was hired by the defendants to perform work on their property located at 146 Paula Ann in Grand Isle. The plaintiff asserts that as he was negotiating a ladder on the property he violently fell from a height of 12 feet. Moawad claims he was severely injured in the incident for which he had to receive medical treatment.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, failing to warn of dangers, failing to properly inspect the premises, failing to exercise due care, failing to maintain a safe workplace and maintaining a defective premises.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for severe and painful injuries, medical expenses, mental anguish, loss of sleep and proper rest, lost wages, loss of lifestyle and loss of enjoyment of life.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
