East Jefferson General Hospital sued over visitor’s injuries attributed to slip and fall

GRETNA – A woman who claims she was severely injured in a fall while visiting a friend at a local hospital is suing.

Dior Tapp filed suit against East Jefferson General Hospital Auxiliary Inc., East Jefferson General Hospital and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 16, 2014.

Tapp contends that on Jan. 14, 2014 she was visiting a patient in the Intensive Career Unit at East Jefferson General Hospital when she slipped and fell while walking down a hallway due to slippery conditions. The plaintiff asserts that she suffered severe personal injuries in the incident including a strained back.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly monitor its building and premises, failing to properly inspect the building and its premises, failing to train personnel, failing to monitor the floors and failing to place wet floor signs in the area.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and emotional distress.

Tapp is represented by attorney Tomy J. Acosta of LaPlace.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
