GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a woman who claims she received disabling injuries after slipping and falling on painted pavement.
Julie Paci filed suit against Winn-Dixie Montgomery LLC and Southern Sweeping Services in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 5.
Paci claims that on Nov. 6, 2013 she was walking across the parking lot at the Winn-Dixie located at 5901 Airline Highway in Metairie when she stepped on an arrow painted onto the pavement and slipped and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges that the painted arrow was substantially more slippery than the pavement surrounding it. Paci contends that she received severe and disabling injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly and adequately maintain the parking lot, failing to maintain a slip hazard, using paint that posed a slip hazard to patrons and failing to warn of hazards or defects.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, shock, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of physical function and loss of enjoyment of life.
Paci is represented by Barry W. Sartin of New Orleans-based Lewis & Caplan.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
