Woman sues for injuries after tripping at Dollar Tree

Dollar tree

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing Dollar Tree for damages after she alleges that a faulty rug at a Dollar Tree store caused her serious injuries after she tripped and fell.

Maxine Morgan filed suit against Dollar Tree Stores Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 14, 2014.

The plaintiff asserts that while walking through the premises of Dollar Tree on Nov. 13, 2013, she tripped over a fault in a rug in the store, causing injuries to her hip and thigh, left knee and right hand, among other injuries. She asserts that the defect in the carpet created an unreasonably dangerous condition in being a tripping hazard and that the defendant failed in its duty to correct the condition.

The plaintiff seeks an unspecified amount in damages for pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and physical disability.

The plaintiff is represented by Williams S. Vincent Jr. and W. Jared Vincent of the New Orleans-based Law Office of William S. Vincent Jr.

This case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.

Case no. 2014-10969.
