NEW ORLEANS – A concrete company is suing the management company in charge of building the Ambulatory Care Building of the University Medical Center for alleged breach of contract.
Landel Concrete Construction Corp II filed suit against Skanska Mapp A Joint Venture, Skanska USA Building Inc., Mapp Construction LLC, Fidelity and Deposity Company of Maryland, Zurich American Insurance Company, Federal Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the Continental Insurance Company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Jan. 23.
The plaintiff claims that its services were solicited as a concrete provider in building the Ambulatory Care Building at the University Medical Center. It asserts that its duties were to provide materials and installation for the project. The plaintiff alleges that it completed all work as called for under the contract for a total of $485,089.85. The plaintiff also alleges that following successful completion of the project, the defendant erroneously alleged that the plaintiff had completed flawed work and hired subcontractors to repair it, when in fact all the work had been done correctly.
The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of all monies owed to it for labor and materials provided on the project, attorney fees and interest due on the open account.
The plaintiff is represented by Seth J. Smiley, Bradley Aldrich and Matt Thomas of New Orleans-based Wolfe Law Group LLC.
This case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
