GRETNA – A dispute concerning the ownership of a pair of two pieces of jewelry has resulted in a lawsuit filed by one of the parties.
Katherine Blanton filed suit against Beverly Napier in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 21.
Blanton contends Napier is in possession of a pair of 14 karat gold diamond earrings with a 1988 appraised worth $10,600 and a pearl and gold bracelet thought to have a current market price of $16,000 that she asserts she is the rightful owner. The plaintiff asserts that despite requesting the defendant to return the jewelry pieces, she has refused to do so–ignoring such requests.
The defendant is accused of wrongful possession of the plaintiff’s property.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for the return of the jewelry or its current value as well as reimbursement legal costs and attorney’s fees.
Blanton is represented by Lauren Davey Rogers of Kenner-based Bohannan, Rogers & Associates.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
