NEW ORLEANS – A local tour guide contends employees of Haunted History Tours battered and assaulted her last year between Royal and St. Peters Streets.

Onassys Bloomberg filed suit against Haunted History Tours Inc., Sidney H. Smith and Ernest Sylvester in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Feb. 23.

Bloomberg claims she was working as a tour guide on Feb. 22, 2014, in the process of waiting for her tour group to arrive on the corner of Royal and St. Peters Street in New Orleans. During this time, the plaintiff was allegedly harassed by a group of five men led by the defendants, Smith and Sylvester. The men represented Haunted History Tours, and proceeded to surround the petitioner in a “menacing fashion," the suit claims.

Bloomberg claims the altercation with the defendants escalated as they proceeded to push her off the sidewalk and onto the street. In addition, the defendants allegedly continued verbally abusing the plaintiff leading to a physical confrontation in which Sylvester allegedly struck the petitioner with his “Haunted History Tours sign.” The plaintiff asserts these offenses constituted battery and assault.

The petitioner is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for humiliation, embarrassment, pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of wages and inconvenience.

Attorney William T. Lowery Jr. represents the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Div. J Judge Paula A. Brown.

Case no. 2015-01631.
