Ray Brandt Hyundai sued by couple over sale of allegedly defective vehicle

01

GRETNA – A couple who purchased a new car from a local car dealer are suing over numerous alleged defects the vehicle has.

Rickie Patterson and Adeline Patterson filed suit against Ray Brandt Hyundai of Metairie LLC, Hyundai Motor Finance Company and Hyundai Motor America Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 9.

The Pattersons contend they purchased a 2014 Hyundai Sonata from the defendants that was delivered to them on June 30, 2014. The plaintiffs assert that shortly after they took possession of the vehicle they noticed paint was peeling off in several places and after they complained about it they were directed to the manufacturer who said the paint job had been done after the car had been delivered to the car dealer. The Pattersons claim that the defendants are responsible for the vehicle’s defects as they were present prior to the sale of the car.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of the defects, violating state law, failing to refund the purchase price of the vehicle or replace it entirely.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and anguish, replacement of the vehicle or provision of a refund, litigation costs and attorney’s fees.

The Pattersons are represented by attorney Joseph  G. Albe of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.

Case no. 748-531.
