French Quarter Festivals sued by man claiming injury from falling face first on stairs

NEW ORLEANS – A man claiming that he was injured severely while attending the French Quarter Festivals is suing.

Kenneth Cutno filed suit against French Quarter Festivals Inc., Audubon Nature Institute, The City of New Orleans and their insurers on April 9 in the Orleans Parish District Court.

The plaintiff claims that on April 13, 2014 he was leaving the festival event near the Audubon Aquarium and without warning he tripped on the uneven pavement, causing him to fall face forward on a set of stairs causing severe and permanent injuries to his face and mouth.

The defendant is accused of creating an unreasonable risk of harm, failing to maintain and repair uneven pavement and failing to detect a dangerous situation.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for incurred medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, all costs of proceedings and attorney's fees.

The plaintiff is represented by Taetrece Harrison of the New Orleans-based Harrison Law Group.

The case has been assigned to Division E  Judge Clare Jupiter.

Case no. 2015-03316.
