Architectural group suing for breach of contract totaling over $1.5 million

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans architectural firm is suing three corporations for whom it claims to have performed more than a million and a half dollars worth of work that has not been paid.

Mathes Brierre Architects filed suit against Karlton Enterprises LLC., International Sales Group LLC and JS Karlton Company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on May 6, 2015.

The plaintiff claims that it began initiating plans with the defendants in late 2005 and early 2006 to create a mixed commercial and residential development on the Westbank. The plaintiff states that Karlton and International Sales Group formed together on Jan. 31, 2006 and hired the plaintiff to provide master planning and architectural services for the program. The plaintiff claims that it has only received $80,000 to date for work performed from March 2006 to May 20, 2012, all of which was competent and as agreed upon.

The defendant is accused of failing to pay the $1,668,412.46 remaining on the contract as stated by the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks the full amount of the account plus interest as well as damages suffered as a result of not being paid for its services and attorney's fees.

The plaintiff is represent by Henry A. King of New Orleans-based King, Krebs, Jurgens PLLC.

This case has been assigned to Div. J Judge Paula A. Brown.
