BATON ROUGE – A couple is suing popular fast-food chain restaurant after the wife slipped and fell in the Baton Rouge restaurant.
Kimberly Dunn, and husband Shaun, filed suit against Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen Inc., in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 2.
According to court records, Dunn entered a store in East Baton Rouge on April 6, 2014, when she slipped and fell on a clear liquid substance that was left on the restaurant floor. The plaintiff asserts that she was severely injured and ended up in the hospital. Dunn claims she suffered numerous injuries in the incident including to her neck, back, right knee, spine and numbness in her arms and fingers
The defendant is accused of failing to keep a proper lookout for leaking residue, failing to clean up the liquid right away, failing to properly inspect the store floor and failing to have liquid merchandise under control to keep it from leaking on the store floor.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, loss of wages, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment.
Attorney Michael T. Bell of Baton Rouge represents the plaintiffs.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge William A. Morvant.
