NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is being sued for allegedly failing to pay his open account with Xavier University including parts of his tuition bill from 2009-2012.
Xavier University of Louisiana filed suit against Elemuel Coleman in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on May 7.
Xavier University claims that the defendant attended the institution from 2009-2012 in the capacity of an undergraduate student. It alleges that the defendant signed a promissory note to repay the institution on Jan 15 for fees including but not limited to an athletic fee, tuition, student services, and other mandatory Xavier University fees as outlined in the school's handbook. The plaintiff claims that despite amicable demand, they are yet to receive payment from the defendant.
The plaintiff seeks the total sum of the alleged open accounts, which adds up to $21,536.31 from the defendant for payment and honoring of the contract.
The plaintiff is represented by Joseph E. Fick of Metairie-based Newman, Mathis, Brady & Spedale PLC.
