Three men have filed suit against their LaFourche Parish employer claiming an outrageously hostile work environment during their employment dating to 2011.

David Sartin of Mississippi and Steven Harrell and Chad Hendrix of Alabama sued Danos and Curole Marine Contractors LLC of Larose along with John Does 1 through 10 in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana July 1, alleging civil rights violations and harassment between January 2011 and May 2013.

The suit states that all three are or were employed by the defendant as welder/shipfitters and that a superintendant exploited his authority to sexually harass and intimidate the plaintiffs at their offshore worksite in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the suit, the supervisor, Herbert Bourne, made inappropriate sexual comments and overtures to male employees, and retaliated for their unwillingness to tolerate his advances by reassigning job duties and reducing wages.

The complaint documents several instances of “abhorrent conduct” including lewd comments, gestures and drawings. The plaintiffs aver lost income, mental and emotional distress, anguish and humiliation. They allege sexual harassment, gender discrimination, negligent supervision and retention,

Requesting front and back pay, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, expenses, and court costs, the plaintiffs are represented by Joseph LoCoco of LoCoco & LoCoco in D’Iberville, MS.
