Lawsuit claims Treasure Chest Casino shuttle bus driver closed door on man, injuring him

GRETNA – A man has field a lawsuit against a local casino claiming he was injured when a shuttle bus driver closed a door on him.

Darnell Baloney filed suit against Treasure Chest Casino LLC and an unknown driver in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 9.

Baloney alleges that on Jun 23, 2014 he was a customer at the Treasure Chest Casino and was being transported back to his vehicle aboard a shuttle bus owned by the casino. The plaintiff contends that as he was stepping off of the shuttle bus the driver closed the door on him striking him in the face and upper body and causing him to fall to the ground. Baloney asserts he received injuries to his head, face, neck, back, eye and left foot in the incident for which he has had to undergo medical treatment.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life.

Baloney is represented by Bryan K. Jefferson of New Orleans-based Barker, Boudreaux, Lamy & Foley.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
