Delgado sues student over unpaid tuition

BATON ROUGE – A former community college student is being sued for unpaid tuition.

Louisiana Community and Technical College System at Delgado Community College filed suit against Davita Lizzetta Thomas in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 23.

According to the lawsuit, Thomas attended Delgado Community College for the Fall 2011 semester for which the plaintiff claims Thomas owes $1,527 in tuition and fees. After sending notice to the defendant on Nov. 19, 2012, Feb. 22, 2013 and Aug. 15, 2013, Thomas allegedly failed to pay the debt.

The plaintiff is asking that the defendant pay the entire principal balance of $1,527, with interest, late fees and attorney fees.

Attorney Wendy Ramnarine of Baton Rouge is representing the plaintiff.

This case has been assigned to Division O Judge Wilson Fields.
