New Orleans tile company sues for allegedly unpaid work

Larbreach

NEW ORLEANS – A tile company is suing a construction company for which it completed work, claiming that all work was done in a complete and timely manner, but that the defendant has failed to pay.

American Tile & Terrazzo Company, Inc. filed suit against GM&R Construction Corporation in the Orleans Parish First Civil District Court on June 19.

The plaintiff claims that it entered into a subcontract with the defendant to perform work on the SUNO Washington library in New Orleans and that it is owed a balance of $76,063.27. The plaintiff also states that demands for payment were unanswered and that the defendant had the opportunity to inspect the materials and labor provided by the plaintiff, but accepted them without objection.

The plaintiff is seeking payment for the materials provided by American Tile as well as penalty.

The plaintiff is represented by Christopher K. Lemieux and Alexis K. Caughey of Metairie-based Blue Williams, L.L.P.

This case has been assigned to Div. I Judge Piper D. Griffin.

Case no. 2015-05923.
