Budget Saver sued over customer’s slip and fall in meat aisle

GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a man who claims he was injured in a slip and fall in the meat aisle.

Timothy Wilson filed suit against Labored Food Mart Inc., SLFM Inc. and First Financial Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 23.

Wilson claims that on July 4, 2014 he was shopping in the meat aisle at the Budget Saver located at 1951 Barataria Boulevard in Marrero when he slipped on an unknown substance and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges he suffered severe injuries to his neck, right knee, ribs, legs, feet, hands, bones, muscles, joint and organs in the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering and income loss.

Wilson is represented by Rebeca M. Massa of New Orleans-based Scheuermann and Jones LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
