Wal-Mart sued by woman claiming she was injured in slip and fall in milk

GRETNA – A corporate retailer is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured after slipping and falling in a puddle of milk.

Devoney Muse filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 14.

Muse asserts on Aug. 2, 2014 she was at the Wal-Mart located at 1501 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey when she slipped in a puddle of milk and fell to the floor. The plaintiff claims she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to take measures to prevent the incident, failing to act reasonably and prudently, failing to exercise reasonable care, failing to keep the premises free from hazards and failing to properly secure the products of the store.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, metal anguish, emotional distress, loss of love and affection, loss of consortium and loss of enjoyment of life.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
