NEW ORLEANS – A South Carolina woman has brought suit against Marriott Hotels after she allegedly suffered injuries in a slip and fall during an “ice bucket challenge” event at the hotel.

On Aug. 20, 2014 Metts was a guest at the Marriot Hotel on Convention Boulevard when she slipped and fell on a slippery floor.

Metts alleges that the hotel was hosting an ice bucket challenge in their indoor pool area which caused ice and water to spill onto the fifth floor. She further alleges that she slipped and fell when she was exiting the pool area as result of the hazardous condition.

The plaintiff alleges that the hotel failed to place precautions to avoid the fall and/or failed to warn her of the unreasonably dangerous condition.

The plaintiff seeks damages for mental anguish, pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and permanent physical disability.

Metts is represented by Matthew B. Moreland of Becnel Law firm, LLC in Reserve, Louisiana.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.

Case No. 15-07888.
