Bridgestone Brands is suing a tire business competitor, alleging trademark infringement.

Bridgestone Brands and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations filed a lawsuit Sept. 8 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana against Qingdao Hi-wheel Int’l Trading Co., and Grandstone Tyre Corporation.

According to the complaint, the defendants’ branding of Grandstone and the Grandstone logo are clearly infringing upon the already well-established brands of Bridgestone and Firestone, owned by the plaintiff.

As a result, the plaintiffs allege trademark infringement, trademark dilution, unfair competition, and deceptive trade practices for trying to copy the branding of a popular competitor.

Bridgeston Brands seeks a ban on using the Grandstone branding, profits from sales of Grandstone products, litigation costs and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Avery Griffin and and William J. Hamlin of Hamlin & Griffin in Folsom.

U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana case number 2:15-cv-04165-MVL-JCW.
