NEW ORLEANS – A local hospital is being sued by a woman who claims her newborn son suffered severe burns while in its care.
Rosalyn Ruffin Duley has filed a lawsuit against Tulane-Lakeside Hospital and Tulane University Hospital Clinic in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Duley states that her son was born on March 18, 2011 at 30 weeks gestation. On March 22, 2011 while in the intensive-care unit at the Lakeside Hospital Duley claims a high flow oxygen delivery system malfunctioned resulting in burns to her son's face and arm.
The plaintiff alleges medical malpractice and argues that the defendant is liable through the negligence of its employees.
The plaintiff seeks damages for permanent scarring, pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation and medical expenses.
Duley is represented by Kara Hadican Samuels and Nora Udell of New Orleans-based Kara Hadican Samuels & Associates, LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
Case No. 15-07912.
