A Lafourche Parish man is suing two Louisiana companies, alleging negligence for injuries he suffered on a vessel.

Thomas Rodrigue filed a lawsuit Oct. 27 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana against Wood Group Inc. of Baton Rogue and Texas Petroleum Investment Company of Lafayette.

According to the complaint, on March 29, Rodrigue was working on a vessel owned by Texas Petroleum and operated by Wood Group. While carrying a bucket of materials, the suit says, the plaintiff stepped on a grating in the deck, which gave way and caused injuries to the plaintiff, a result of negligence by the defendants.

The plaintiff says he has incurred physical disability, physical and mental pain, anguish and loss of bodily function.

Rodrigue seeks a jury trial, a judgment for $1 million, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorneys C. Arlen Braud, Michelle Gallagher and Steven Jackson, of Braud & Gallagher in Mandeville.

U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana case number 2:15-cv-05488-JCZ-MBN.
