NEW ORLEANS – A Houston fuel company says the Bulk Finland, a barge, owes money for fuel deliveries.
Bomin Bunker Oil Corp. filed a lawsuit Nov. 18 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against marine vessel Bulk Finland, its engines and tackle, citing breach of maritime contract.
According to the complaint, Bomin provided $719,483.74 for marine fuel to the Bulk Finland Oct. 16, 2014, as it was docked in Balboa, Panama. Although the plaintiff invoiced the Bulk Finland (which flies under a Singapore flag) on Oct. 22, 2014, with 30-day terms, the invoice remains unpaid, the suit says.
Bomin seeks the confiscation and sale of the vessel as reimbursement for the unpaid fuel, as well as an order placing its claims superior to those of other creditors. They are represented by attorneys J. Stephen Simms and Marios J. Monopolis of Simms Showers in Baltimore and C. Gordon Starling Jr. of The Law Office of Gordon Starling in New Orleans.
