Couple sues drug corporation over claims of negligence and fraud in Xarelto manufacturing

Lawyer

NEW ORLEANS – A Kansas couple is suing a major drug corporation claiming that the company was negligent and fraudulent in failing to advise users of the risks associated with Xarelto.

Thomas and Shelley Parks filed a complaint on July 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Janssen Research and Development over the alleged damages received while using the drug Xarelto.

According to the complaint, during the plaintiffs' use of the drug Xarelto, neither individual was notified of the risks that they would be subjected to because of the drug's use. This was both negligent and fraudulent, as the drug has been linked to more than 1,000 cases of injury, in the form of internal bleeding as well as other conditions, and has also been responsible for more than 60 deaths, the complaint states. Had the plaintiffs known of the risk, they would have not exposed themselves to it.

The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for legal fees and all injuries suffered. They are represented by Seth Sharrock Webb of Brown and Crouppen PC in St. Louis. The case is being heard by Judge Eldon Fallon.
