NEW ORLEANS - A Lafayette man is suing over injuries he allegedly sustained while working on an offshore drilling vessel.
Robert L. Vannoy II filed a lawsuit March 15 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Ensco Offshore Company and/or Ensco International Company and/or Pride International, Schlumberger Technology Corporation, Ensco 5006, Stefan Moise, Jean-Patrick Othaeche, Kenneth Hobbs and ABC Insurance Company, alleging negligence and unseaworthiness.
On July 17, 2012, Vannoy was working as a crew member of the Ensco 5006, when he slipped and fell on a pool of oil and/or hydraulic fluid on the vessel's deck walkway.
The pool of fluid was allegedly created when Schlumberger employees were dismantling equipment being used in the service of the vessel.
As a result, Vannoy allegedly suffered injuries to his left hip, requiring surgical intervention and placement of hardware.
He allegedly suffered injuries to other parts of his body, as well as loss of earnings and earning capacity, disability and scarring, mental anguish and distress, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.
Vannoy seeks to recover damages, including general and special damages, in excess of $75,000. He is represented by attorney Michael C. Palmintier of deGravelles Palmintier Holthaus & Fruge in Baton Rouge.
