NEW ORLEANS – A sub sea engineer is filing for damages against his former employer after allegedly suffering an accident while on the job.

Ricky Brown Jr. filed a lawsuit on March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Noble Drilling LLC over allegations of negligence and unseaworthiness.

Brown asserts that he was employed by the defendant and assigned to its drillship Bully II as a sub sea engineer. His duties allegedly included installing and maintaining subsea blow-out preventers and other equipment as well as engaging in end of well and other maintenance activities.

On or about December 2014, Brown allegedly suffered a serious injury when he slipped and fell while greasing a choke manifold located on the drill floor. He allegedly sustained further injuries on June or early July 2015 when he fell down a flight of stairs located in the engine room. Brown alleges that, due to the defendant’s negligent failure to provide safe and sufficient equipment, failure to provide a safe place to work, failure to provide appropriate training, and failure to provide competent crew, he experienced pain to his mind and body, including his back, and required and will continue to require medical treatment.

Brown is suing for damages of more than $75,000 and for all the costs of the suit. He is asking for a jury trial and is represented by Hugh P. Lambert, Cayce C. Peterson and Jacki L. Smith from The Lambert Firm in New Orleans.
