LAFAYETTE – A diver is suing his employers over allegations a defect in his living quarters on the vessel Ocean Patriot caused him injuries.
Charles A. Gaines filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against Pinnacle Project Services Inc. and Oceaneering International Inc. alleging that they failed to provide a safe working place.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 7, 2015, while he was exiting the restroom inside his living quarters, he tripped on a step and fell to the floor and sustained injuries. The plaintiff holds Pinnacle Project Services Inc. and Oceaneering International Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to discover and remedy the defect in his living quarters.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, including but not limited to physical pain and suffering, loss of wages, mental anguish and medical expenses. He is represented by David J. Calogero of Davidson, Meaux, Sonnier, McElligott, Fontenot, Gideon & Edwards in Lafayette.
