Mother sues dog owner after she claims that her minor son was bitten

GRETNA – A woman is filing a complaint following an incident in which she claims that her minor son was injured when he was bitten by an unrestrained dog.

Lakeyia McGhie, as natural tutrix of her minor son, Labron McGhie, filed a suit against Simona Verhevil in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 21, citing negligence.

According to the claim, McGhie and her son were walking on April 12, 2015, when the child was allegedly bitten by an unleashed dog, which resulted in the need for medical attention. The dog was owned by the defendant, the suit states.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Eugene P. Redmann in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller
