NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish woman alleges she was hurt in a fall at a retailer.
Phyllis Jackson filed a complaint on May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. alleging that the retail store chain allegedly failed to properly maintain its premises in a safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on October 6, 2015, she was a patron of the Wal-Mart store located on Northshore Boulevard in Slidell. While she was proceeding down the water aisle in the direction of the aisle of the store that contained beer, she alleges she slipped and fell in water that had gathered in the middle of the aisle. The suit states the fall caused her to strike her shoulders as well as other portions of her body, which later required surgery.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages of more than $150,000, as well as for judicial interest and court costs and for any and all other relief which the court is competent to grant. She is represented by Scott G. Jones of Law Offices of Scott G. Jones in Slidell.
