Woman alleges she was injured in fall at a Winn-Dixie

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she was allegedly caused to slip and fall on a wet portion of ground at Winn-Dixie.

Debra Gonzales filed a suit against Winn-Dixie Montgomery LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 27.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Winn-Dixie located at 211 Veterans Memorial Blvd. on May 28, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was walking down an aisle when she was caused to slip and fall by stepping on a puddle of liquid that was left unmarked on the ground.

The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to maintain the store in a safe condition, failing to take the steps necessary to prevent such accidents, failing to mark the portion of wet ground and overall failing to keep customers safe and free from injury.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Edward J. Womac Jr. and Matthew Sutton of the Law Offices of Edward J. Womac Jr. and Associates in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
