Vessel cleaning service alleges ship owner owes $108,000

NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana vessel cleaning servicing business is suing the owners of a ship, alleging breach of contract in failing to pay more than $108,000 for completed work.

Delta Marine Environmental LLC of Slidell, Louisiana, filed a complaint May 10 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Phoenix Bulk Carriers US LLC, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, from May 11-17, 2015, Delta Marine provided services aboard the M/V Bulk Discovery, including providing men and equipment to clean the vessel. On July 29, 2015, the suit says, it invoiced defendant for services rendered. 

Despite amicable demand, the complaint states, the balance due of $108,129 remains outstanding. The plaintiff alleges Phoenix Bulk Carriers has refused to pay the balance. 

Delta Marine Environmental seeks a trial by jury seeks, the awarding all sums due, plus costs, legal interest, attorney fees and all other relief to which it is entitled. It is represented by attorneys Michael W. McMahon and James L. Bradford of Daigle Fisse & Kessenich Law Firm in Covington.
