Woman claims negligence of East Jefferson General Hospital caused fall

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is seeking damages, alleging that lack of supervision caused her to fall at a hospital.

Carolyn Armant filed a suit against East Jefferson General Hospital in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a patient in the East Jefferson General Hospital on Jan. 9, 2012, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while in the hospital, Armant was caused to fall from her bed due to lack of supervision, despite the defendant's prior knowledge that she was at risk of falling.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly supervise the plaintiff or take the necessary precautions.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Michael J. Hall and Jonique M. Hall of the Law Office of Michael J. Hall in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
