GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims she was injured after another driver made a U-turn and failed to yield.
Cecily M. Ochsner filed a suit against Valero Energy Corp., Valero Refining Co. Tennessee LLC, Valero Service Inc., Valero Refining New Orleans LLC, Valero Refining Meraux LLC, AVIS Rent a Car System LLC, Vernia M. Watson and Garrison Property and Casualty Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 13.
According to the claim, the plaintiff was operating her vehicle in a proper manner on May 20, 2015 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was driving westbound on Veterans Boulevard in Jefferson Parish when she came to the intersection at Illinois Avenue. A vehicle being operated by Watson allegedly made a U-turn, failing to follow the laws of traffic and yield to the plaintiff. As a result, the plaintiff was caused to collide with the defendant and was allegedly caused personal injury.
The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to obey the laws of traffic, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to avoid the incident and overall reckless driving and inattention.
The plaintiff is seeking damages of more than $75,000. She is represented by Edward F. Downing III and Jason C. MacFetters of Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams in Metairie.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
