Woman claims she was injured in Macy's store

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she was allegedly caused to fall at a store in Metairie.

Mahalia Brathwaite filed a suit against Macy's Retail Holding Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 2.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer in the Lakeside Shopping Center Macy's when the incident occurred on May 25, 2015. The suit states that while in the store, the plaintiff tripped and fell due to a protruding price check kiosk in the store.

The defendant is accused of negligence through its failure to maintain the premises in a hazard-free condition, failure to warn the patrons of the dangerous condition, failure to keep the aisles free from dangerous conditions, and overall general negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Joseph M. Bruno Jr. of Bruno and Bruno in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
