GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish couple claims that their home was damaged due to poor workmanship.

Henry Schlorff and Dionne Orth Schlorff filed a suit against Digital Engineering & Imaging Inc., Healtheon Inc., Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East, East Jefferson Levee District, Silas Cunningham, U.S. Corps of Army Engineers and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana, also known as the Governor's Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration, in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 20.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs' home was flooded on three separate occasions due to allegedly poor construction and negligent management and supervision of the construction plans. The suit states that following the first two floods, the plaintiffs were assured that the necessary steps had been taken to prevent further flooding. The suit states that the final flood occurred in May 2015 after this guarantee from the defendants. The plaintiffs claim that the floods resulted in major damages to their property.

The defendant is accused of defective workmanship, negligence and bad faith in relation to the incident.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Frank W. Lagarde Jr. and Melanie M. Liccirdi of Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.
