NEW ORLEANS – A cook for an offshore supply vessel alleges he was injured on the job.

Jason Tsuhlares filed a complaint on May 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Adriatic Marine LLC and Bailey's Catering LLC alleging that they failed to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 30, 2015, while in the course of his employment, he was caused to suffer serious and permanent injuries when he fell down the wheel house stairway as the boat heaved in heavy seas. As a result, he claims he has suffered and will continue to suffer damages, including but not limited to physical and mental pain and suffering, disability, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life and past and future medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Adriatic Marine LLC and Bailey's Catering LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to instruct him concerning the safe conduct of the work, failed to warn him concerning conditions in the workplace, failed to provide sufficient tools and equipment and failed to provide adequate, proper and sufficient hazard prevention controls.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in the full amount of $5,250,000, together with legal interest from the date of incident until paid and for all costs of these proceedings. He is represented by Lawrence N. Curtis of Lawrence N. Curtis LTD in Lafayette.
