Patient claims Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner LLC caused more injuries

Medical malpractice 03

GRETNA – A woman alleges that negligent treatment at a health care facility caused her to need a second hip replacement.

Phyllis Jeanne Petit filed a suit against Dr. Pamela Joan Petrocy and Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 18.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a patient of Petrocy and Ochsner Kenner Medical Center on Oct. 14, 2014, for a routine hip replacement. The suit states, however, that the plaintiff was caused injury when the medical personnel mishandled the plaintiff and dislocated the hip with the replacement. Following the alleged injury, the medical team proceeded to twist her dislocated leg in a manner that purportedly required another hip replacement. The suit further states that the plaintiff was caused irreparable damages in the incident and that proper post-op care was not given.

The defendant is accused of negligence through causing the plaintiff unnecessary pain and suffering, failure to properly examine the patient post-op and other negligence overall.

The plaintiff is seeking damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by Robert B. Evans of the Evans Law Firm in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
