Former Team Industrial Services employee alleges wrongful termination

Wrongful term 13

NEW ORLEANS – An ultrasound technician is suing her former Ascension Parish employer alleging she was wrongfully terminated for filing a complaint.

Lauren Eve Lafitte filed a complaint on June 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Team Industrial Services Inc. alleging retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 20, 2013, just a few hours after she sent an email to defendant's director of human resources about her complaint for harassment and discrimination, she was escorted off the work site and her badge, which had permitted her to access defendant's plant, was taken away from her. She claims was notified of her termination from employment on the very next day on the grounds that she allegedly violated a safety rule. She alleges she was terminated because of her harassment complaint.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaration that the defendant's conduct violates the law, ordering the defendant to pay for all damages, reinstatement, attorney's fees, costs and expenses and any additional relief as the court deems necessary and proper. She is represented by J. Arthur Smith III of Smith Law Firm in Baton Rouge.
