BATON ROUGE — An Ascension Parish construction worker is suing his former employer, alleging failure to pay overtime wages.
Guillermo Sanchez filed a lawsuit June 16 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Nextlevel Enterprises Services LLC and Carlos Salazar, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, between February-August 2015, Sanchez regularly worked for Nextlevel for more than 40 hours per week but was not paid an overtime premium, only his regular hourly rate.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay overtime compensation at a rate of one and one-half of the regular hourly rate for all hours Sanchez worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
Sanchez seeks a trial by jury, accumulated unpaid wages, an equal sum as liquidated damages, reasonable attorney fees, interest and for all legal costs. He is represented by attorneys Danie B. Davis and Randall E. Estes of Estes Davis Law Firm in Baton Rouge.
