Woman alleges she was injured after slipping on oil in Sam's Club

GRETNA – A woman claims that she was caused to slip and fall on some oil in a Kenner store.

Nora Ochoa filed a suit against Walmart Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 4.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the Sam's Club located at 455 31st St. in Kenner on July 4, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while the plaintiff was walking on the property of the store, she was caused to slip and fall by oil that had been left on the floor.

The defendant is accused of negligence through allowing such a condition to exist, failing to clean up the premises to ensure a safe experience for customers and failing to place signage making customers aware of the present danger.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Ivan A. Orihuela of Riguer Silva in Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
