Delgado Community College is seeking damages for an allegedly open account

GRETNA – Delgado Community College is seeking damages for a student's alleged open account.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System through Delgado Community College filed a suit against Melissa Duarte in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 19.

According to the claim, the plaintiff admitted the defendant as a student into the institution for the semester of Spring 2013. The suit states that since then, the defendant has failed to pay off her balance of more than $1,000.

The defendant is accused of open account through failing to pay off her balance.

The plaintiff is seeking $1,065.60 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
