Slip02

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she slipped and fell while shopping at a grocery store and injured her hips and back.

Bonnie Mikell filed a suit against Rouse's Enterprises LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 11.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer at the defendant's market, located on Franklin Avenue, on July 12, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to fall when she encountered a puddle of water on the floor from condensation dripping from a malfunctioning refrigerating unit.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to clean the premises sufficiently, failing to provide a safe environment for customers, failing to place warning or signage to alert customers of the danger and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Craig E. Mitchell and Kiana M. Mitchell of Mitchell & Associates in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
