U.S. alleges construction company owes nearly $261,000

SHREVEPORT — The United States, on behalf of a contractor, is suing  another contractor and payment surety, alleging the defendant owes nearly $261,000.

United States of America, for the benefit of RVP Construction Inc. filed a lawsuit July 18 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Shreveport Division against Anthony Gordon Construction Company Inc. and Great American Insurance Company, alleging violation of the Miller Act. 

According to the complaint, RVP was subcontracted to perform via a subcontract agreement dated Nov. 4, 2015 for the sum of $1,208,472. To date, it has not received full payment for work performed under the agreement. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants have failed to pay all amounts due, leaving a balance owed of $260,960.24, plus interest.

RVP Construction and the U.S. seek a trial by jury, judgment for $260,960.25, plus legal interest, attorney fees, penalties and consequential damages and all court costs. It is represented by attorneys John O. Hayter III and Lauren H. Reynolds of Hayter | Reynolds LLC in Shreveport.
