LAKE CHARLES — A former Cambodian employee who resides in Texas has filed a claim against his former employer, Golden Nugget Casino Lake Charles, citing alleged discrimination.
Joseph Chhim filed a complaint on July 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Lake Charles Division against Golden Nugget Casino Lake Charles, alleging that the employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was injured because he was subjected to disparate treatment and discrimination because of his race, age and national origin. The plaintiff holds Golden Nugget Casino Lake Charles responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to follow federal laws by denying him the privileges and consideration of employment and wrongfully denied his employment based upon discriminatory practices.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and requests to be properly considered for employment, back pay and front pay, attorney fees, costs, expenses and such other and further relief to which he may be entitled. He is representing himself.
